FUT promo calendar: when FC 27 promos usually land

EA doesn't publish a season schedule in advance, but the rhythm barely changes from one year to the next. Here's when each kind of promo has tended to arrive in past seasons, and what it usually does to coin and card prices.

  1. Usually mid to late September

Season launch and the Web App

Coins are at their dearest of the year while every club starts from scratch. Card prices fall quickly once early access opens and packs pour in.

    Every season
  2. Usually late October

    Halloween promo

Boosted cards with a Halloween theme. Coin demand jumps on launch night, and older cards slip as players cash them in to fund packs.

    Name varies
  3. Usually late November

    Black Friday

Limited packs released in rounds over the weekend, plus flash challenges. Coin demand climbs in the days before; card prices often dip while packs are opened in bulk.

    Every season
  4. Usually December

    Winter promo

Branded Winter Wildcards in recent seasons, with daily content through the holidays. Coin demand stays firm as many players start saving for January.

    Name varies
  5. Usually January

    Team of the Year

The community votes on the year's best XI before the cards are released. Typically the strongest coin demand of the season; card prices drop beforehand as players sell to build a balance.

    Every season
  6. Usually March

    FUT Birthday

Marks Ultimate Team's anniversary with upgraded cards and returning favourites. A mid-season bump in coin demand, usually shorter than January's.

    Recurring
  7. Usually late April to June

    Team of the Season

Released league by league over several weeks. Coin demand rises with each league, while ordinary cards lose value as the season winds down.

    Every season
  8. Usually from late June

    Summer promos

Fan favourites and throwback cards, often under the FUTTIES name. Coin rates are usually at their lowest of the season, and so are many card prices.

    Name varies

Windows are based on previous seasons, up to FC 26. EA renames and reschedules promos every year and announces each one shortly before it starts, so read this as the usual rhythm of a season, not as confirmed FC 27 dates.

What is a promo in FUT?

A promo is a limited-time event in Ultimate Team. EA releases a set of special cards, usually boosted versions of real players built around a theme, and spreads them across packs, SBCs and objectives while the event runs. Most promos last a week or two and arrive in waves a few days apart. Between the headline events, smaller themed releases and weekly content fill most of the gaps, so there's rarely a week with nothing new in packs.

When a promo ends, its cards leave packs. Anything already in clubs can still change hands on the transfer market, which is why some promo cards hold their value for months while others fade within days.

How promos move coin and card prices

Each big release shakes the market in a fairly predictable order. In the days before, players sell cards to build a balance for the new release, so card prices drift down. On launch evening packs are opened in huge numbers, the market fills up and older cards lose value fast. Traders call it the promo crash.

Coin rates move the opposite way. Demand for coins jumps on launch night, when everyone wants the new cards at once, and that's usually when they cost the most. Once the first wave has been picked over, demand cools and coin rates usually drift back down until the next big release. SBCs add a twist: popular challenges pull high-rated cards out of the market as fodder, so those cards can rise even while everything else falls.

TOTW, TOTY and SBCs: the basics

TOTW (Team of the Week) is the steady beat under all the special events. Every Wednesday EA picks the standout performers from the previous week's real matches and releases in-form cards for them, available in packs for a week. TOTW keeps running all season, whatever else is on.

TOTY is the January headline. Once the public vote closes, EA releases the winning eleven in waves, often position by position. It's the one event most players plan their coins around.

Squad Building Challenges ask you to hand in a squad that meets set requirements, such as a minimum rating or players from one league, in exchange for a reward. Big events lean on them heavily, which is why fodder cards get expensive during busy weeks.

When is the next promo?

EA renames and reshuffles its events every year and usually confirms each one only a few days before it starts, often with a teaser in the game and on its social channels. New promos have tended to go live on Friday evenings, UK time, so the end of the week is when news usually lands.

That's why the calendar above shows typical windows from previous seasons rather than FC 27 dates. If a window is open and nothing has been announced yet, the next one is probably close.

Using the calendar to time a coin purchase

If you're saving for a particular promo, launch night is rarely the best moment to top up. A few rules that hold up season after season:

  • Order before the window, not on the night. Coin rates tend to peak when a promo goes live. Topping up a few days earlier means the coins are already in your club when the new cards arrive.
  • Or let the rush pass. If you're not chasing one specific card, waiting a few days usually means calmer coin rates and cheaper cards.
  • Use the quiet weeks. Stretches with nothing but TOTW tend to be steadier for both coins and cards.
  • Plan for January in December. The year's biggest event is predictable enough to save for in advance.
  • Don't panic if a window slips. Coins sit in your club until you spend them, so an early top-up isn't wasted if EA moves a release back by a week.

Today's rates for every platform are on the FUT coin prices page, and you can order FC 27 coins from the calculator on the home page. Delivery usually takes 10–45 minutes, so an order placed in the afternoon is normally in your club well before an evening release.
